A Beautiful Fine Art Maternity Session in La Jolla, California

One of my favorite things about maternity photography is creating an experience that allows families to celebrate this incredible season of life from beginning to end.

This beautiful maternity session included everything from professional hair and makeup to fine art studio portraits, family photographs, outdoor portraits, and a stunning sunset along the La Jolla coastline.

By the end of the evening, we had created a collection of images that captured not only the beauty of pregnancy, but also the excitement of a family preparing to welcome a new baby.

Starting the Day with Hair and Makeup

Every great maternity session begins with helping mom feel relaxed, confident, and beautiful.

The day started with professional hair and makeup, giving our mom-to-be an opportunity to be pampered and enjoy some well-deserved time focused entirely on herself.

Many mothers arrive feeling a little nervous about being photographed, but hair and makeup often helps transform those nerves into excitement.

It’s amazing how much confidence comes from simply taking the time to prepare and enjoy the experience.

Once styling was complete, we moved into the studio portion of the session.

La Jolla continues to be one of my favorite locations for maternity photography.

Every visit feels different.

Some evenings offer dramatic skies and crashing waves.
